Metal Fabricator Metcon have been a long-term customer of Orrcon Steel and are a fine example of our commitment to building long term business relationships.

The relationship between Metcon and Orrcon Steel’s precision mill in Adelaide’s O'Sullivan Beach started in 1994 and has since grown to be a dynamic partnership.

Metcon are a unique business with a special focus on highly customised architectural metal work.

From custom wall facades, to architectural lighting and bespoke metal furniture pieces, Metcon require unique cuts of steel.

Foreign aid project benefits from Orrcon Steel

Adloheat has been making a stand on servicing the horticultural industry and supporting foreign aid projects.

They have been making thousands of plant stands every year which are on display at selected Bunnings Warehouse stores, the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, as well as TAFE and Landcare Groups.

Founded by husband and wife duo Wayne and Jayne Harris, Adloheat are committed to providing high quality Australian made horticultural segment products and garden accessories, including hot houses, green houses, shade houses and propagating equipment.

BlueScope collaboration at Mansfield State High tops the class

Orrcon Steel and Lysaght have earned an A+ from Mansfield State High School, after successfully collaborating to complete multiple roof structures, as well as a large deck adjoining the school’s tuckshop.

The BlueScope businesses teamed up to combine LYSAGHT® building products with Orrcon Steel’s MAXI-TUBE® to provide shelter and new decking, enhancing the experience of around 2600 students at Mansfield State High School.

GALVABOND® Commercial Pipe now manufactured locally in SA

Orrcon Steel’s O’Sullivan Beach Precision Mill is excited to announce they have successfully completed trials to manufacture GALVABOND® Commercial Pipe.

GALVABOND® Commercial Pipe offers an alternative to Hot Dipped Galvanised pipe in selected applications. There is a real bonus in being Australian made as it is high quality steel and shorter lead times to produce.

After analysing the tooling and roll sets at O’Sullivan Beach, Orrcon Steel’s Precision Mill team identified several sizes that could be produced using GALVABOND® coil sourced from parent company BlueScope. 

‘Back to the Future’ virtual experience now at Orrcon Steel

Like something out of the Back to the Future movie franchise, Orrcon Steel has created a virtual experience of its Structural Steel Manufacturing site with 360-degree compatibility.

This interactive and engaging video showcases steel manufacturing in a way that’s never been seen before. The viewer has full control of what they see and it provides an unprecedented viewpoint of the manufacturing of Orrcon Steel tubular products.

Dual third party product certifications set benchmark

As evidence of Orrcon Steel continuing to improve its processes and maintaining product conformity to Australian standards, Orrcon Steel is now dual accredited by AS/NZS 1163 Australasian Certification Authority for Reinforcing and Structural Steels (ACRS) and the British Standards Institution (BSI Australia and New Zealand).

Both ACRS and BSI provide third party assurance that Orrcon’s product and process comply by undertaking annual surveillance auditing of its mill operations. 

LED lighting is a bright idea

According to data from the International Energy Agency, Australians are paying some of the highest electricity prices in the world.

Orrcon Steel’s parent company BlueScope has taken a national centralised approach to lowering power consumption and ongoing maintenance costs, while also improving lighting quality.

Orrcon Steel benefitted from this project with a warehouse in Tamworth converting to LED lights.
