Orrcon Steel’s MCG Project

AFL fans will ride a wave of emotion this September with the final eight teams booking their spot into the 2017 AFL Finals Series.

The MCG is often referred to as the spiritual home of sport in Australia and AFL Grand Final Day is one of the biggest days on the sporting calendar.

This modern-day colosseum has hosted some of the most epic grand finals and over the years’ millions of spectators have witnessed some of the most memorable goals at the ‘G.’

For Orrcon Steel, our most memorable goal came prior to the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.  

Bluescope announces Mark Vassella as new CEO to succeed retiring Paul O’Malley

BlueScope today announced Mark Vassella as its new Managing Director & CEO from 1 January 2018, after Paul O’Malley announced his retirement effective 31 December 2017.

Mr Vassella joined BlueScope in 2007, and is currently Chief Executive BlueScope Australia and New Zealand. He started in the steel industry as a cadet at BHP Newcastle in NSW, in the early 80s, and has worked through the ranks, in a range of general management and leadership roles in Australia, the UK and the US.

Winner of the Tonne of Power

Congratulations to our 2017 V8 Ford Mustang winner Pedders Shock Absorber Service of Noble Park, Victoria. Special guests Mark Winterbottom and Bluescope CEO Mark Vassella presented the keys to Pedders Shock Absorber Managing Director Mark Pedder at Bayford.

Our Tonne of Power promotion had been running from February 1st to June 30 this year and in the end Pedders Shock Absorber Service were worthy winners.

Cannon Trailers Manager, Rod Cannon is well aware that his family’s company can’t take undue chances with their products as it has been solely dedicated to manufacturing cattle trailers over many years.

Townsville Treats Team to Top Results

Prodrive Racing has had a strong weekend at the Townsville 400 with a podium finish and top five race results on both days. The return to form is a positive step forward for the team which endured a tough outing at the previous round in Darwin.

Mark Winterbottom made his return to form with a podium and narrowly missing out on a second with his most consistent performance of the year over the weekend.

<p>Prodrive Racing Australia will place an emphasis on strategy and one-lap speed at the Winton SuperSprint to combat the challenge of passing at the team&#39;s test track. Currently sitting equal fourth in the championship race, Chaz Mostert is confident that the team can continue to mix with the category&#39;s front runners at the upcoming event, boasting a strong history at the circuit.<br />

Leading Steel Distributor Invests in Regional Queensland

Leading steel, tube and pipe distributor and manufacturer Orrcon Steel has demonstrated its faith in the economy and branched out into 
four key Queensland regions following the recent purchase of local steel products supplier, The Steel Barn.

 

The purchase, which involves distribution outlets in Bundaberg, Townsville, Cairns and Mareeba, will see the long-established stores back in Queensland hands after being owned by Melbourne-based GAMSteel since 2007.

 

Australia’s first online translation guide launched

An innovative online Section Translation Guide (STG), launched today by leading Australian steel, tube and pipe distributor and manufacturer, Orrcon Steel, is expected to revolutionise the way engineers and designers carry out comparisons of open steel sections to hollow steel sections.
